Youth Development
LEADERSHIP AND PERSONALITY YOUTH CAMP: Section 13 of the 1987 Philippine Constitution states that the State recognizes the vital role of the youth in nation-building and shall promote and protect their physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual, and social well-being. It shall inculcate in the youth patriotism and nationalism, and encourage their involvement in public and civic affairs.
Thus, this Municipality thru the efforts of Office of the Local Youth Development and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office conducted this year’s Youth Camp at Lobo, Batangas last March 17 & 18, 2024. It was participated by 40 youth individuals from different barangays.
This year’s Youth Camp involved a Mental Health Awareness Talk, support group sessions, leadership talk, team building activities and 19-hour no cellphone rule in order to disconnect them from the internet world- just them with new friends, lectures and nature.
Mental Health Awareness Talk is composed of various lectures on personality and involved various activities in order to touch the understanding of one’s self. Support group sessions is also conducted so that participants can have a venue where they can share their thoughts, emotions and experiences to one another- things that they are loud for and things that they keep from themselves. The last activity of the session involved the burning of paper where they wrote they hates and regrets plus the prayer they wish. These activities are facilitated by Ms. Ana Gianelli V. Areta, RPm, a life coach.
Second day involved team building activities where wits and physicality of participants were tested. Thereafter, they elected their officers who will partake in the Local Youth Development Council meetings and programs. They elected Ms. Kristine Lantin of Brgy. Manghinao Proper as their President.
Evaluation concluded that the participants really enjoyed the camp as they learned more about their personality and the basic teachings of leadership, bonus of that is they gained new friendships outside the circle they currently know. Indeed, this year’s Youth Camp was a success.
