Department of Transportation (DOTr) Sec. Vince Dizon visited Bauan today to personally inspect the operations at Bauan International Port, joining him are the officials of the Local Government Unit of Bauan headed by Mayor Wendah Katrina Rivera-Dolor, Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) General Manager Jay Santiago, and other officials of the International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI).

During the media conference, Sec. Dizon noted that it will generate more job opportunities not just in Bauan and the province of Batangas but in the whole of Region IV-A, citing that it has a huge potential which will begin in the construction of a new world class terminal in Bauan. “Mag-uumpisa ‘yun sa port. Kapag naitayo ang port, sigurado na magtatayuan ng factories sa tabi nito,” as explained by Sec. Dizon. “Ibig sabihin may trabaho, mas maraming kita, mas magandang kabuhayan, para sa mga taga-Bauan lalo na,” he added.

Sec. Dizon ended the interview saying, “Nagpapasalamat tayo sa ICTSI kasi nakita nila ang opportunity na magtayo ng world-class na container terminal dito [sa Bauan],” praising the municipality of Bauan’s strategic location and potential in becoming an economic hub in the province with industrial parks, additional infrastructure projects, and other more establishments to rise in the future.
